Ok, ADI is looking into it. They will be getting an updated version of Installshield.

For those experienceing the problem, watch this thread over the next couple of weeks...

Guy, thanks muchly for talking to ADI!

I don't suppose it would work to just copy the install directory over from the old Win98SE drive? And perhaps the ADI registry key? Or would there be too much difference between a 98SE install and an XPSP2 install?

BTW, still not receiving e-mails, and checked again that this thread is in the list and the e-mail address is correct.

I suppose that with *lots* of work, it would be possible the copy over a C-Max installation from another PC, but getting the registry entries just right could be quite an experiment in patience!

Right. Well, I hope ADI can get the new install built in reasonable time--I'd sure like to access my Ocelot!

Who knows, perhaps this will supply them with a kick-start to the next version of C-Max, which has been discussed here for years !

I don't have a problem with any other InstallShield programs.

I've installed about 6 other programs this last week with no problems (all were InstallShield). The C-Max is the only one that refused to install. Heck .. I double-click setup.exe and nothing happens, but if I try to delete the folder with setup.exe in it, I get an error saying that the file is in use (although it doesn't appear in Task Manager as a running process) and therefore cannot be deleted.

Last week , I dropped the CPUXA.exe file onto the desktop of a win2k PC without cmax 'Installed' & it Ran ..
I do Have Visual Studio installed on that PC...

Hi Barry. Thanks for the encouragement. I copied my C-Max directory over from the 98SE installation. I also saved 98SE's HKLM/Software/ADI branch and merged it into XPSP2. It's a very small branch that contains your latitude, longitude, and timezone, so the Ocelot can calculate sunrise/sunset. It also contains your comms setup, which might have to be adjusted (within C-Max) if the new machine uses a different port than the old.

C-Max ran fine, and knew my position/time. It connected to the Ocelot, read its clock, and set it to the PC clock. I haven't yet tried updating the program, but can so no reason it shouldn't work.

While I'm happy to have it work, this won't be a solution for someone who doesn't already have an installation to copy over. ADI does still need to update the installer. It will be interesting to see if that fixes the issue. I'd also like very much to hear from someone at ADI as to whether my solution is safe, or should I re-install when the new installer is available?

I've just tried to install C-Max from both the CD as well as the latest version from the website, and am having the same issue described earlier in this post, which is that nothing happends when you atsrt the install. Any update on when this will be resolved?

Thanks,

Norbert

I just downloaded C-Max, but when I try to run SET-UP
I get the following Error Box:

C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not
suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose "Close' to terminate the application.

How old is this thing?

I see the last post is from 06/15/06

I'm thinking of buying the Ocelot, but if this product
is going to be like the X10 stuff, then forget it?

Try re-downloading it. I created a new setup and put it on the web but like an idiot forgot to change the link to the new file name.

My apologies.
