I have installed a Home Automation (HAI) controller with a HomeTouch,Inc (Grafik Touch) touch screen system. I am trying to tie the Ocelot into the system and learn IR commands. I am connected to the Dell computer which runs the Grafik Touch program, however I continue to get an error message saying to check my RS-232 cable connections and to confirm my comm port selection in the control program.

I have done all that and rebooted the whole thing with the same error message. Does anyone have any suggestions?

QUESTION: The little four prong power connector which plugs into the front of the Ocelot has a two wire connection to two of the four pins (the two on the right looking at the Ocelot head on). Is it possible I should move those two wires over to the two pins on the left? Would it blow out the Ocelot applying power to those two pins?

No, don't move the power connector wires over... you will possibly blow the RS-485 chip if you do that.

Have you tried accessing the Ocelot with C-Max first (even if you don't plan on using C-Max over the long run)? Use the CD that came with the Ocelot to install C-Max and test it this way first.
