Recently I bought a new RLY8-XA (made in 2005, HW rev. A, without jumper JP1) and this module is losing communication with my Ocelot on the ADNET after 20 or 30 minutes.
I tried to connect the module on a several different positions in the chain, and I tried to use the power source with a different voltage (10.5 - 14V DC), and I tried to use the module without the cover because of better cooling, all without any success. After losing of the communication is possible to readdress and this module operates again correctly. Unfortunately it operates only 20 to 30 minutes. And more, perhaps a second trouble with this module…, when I was using a lower voltage, e.g. 10.5V, corresponding LEDs responded to the ON/OFF commands but some relays not switched.
I use 10 ADI/Bobcat different modules and second RLY8-XA (made in 1999, HW rev. C, with jumper JP1) and all these modules operate correctly in the same ADNET many years.
Any advice?

Try it with just the RLY8-XA and the Ocelot connected and see if it keeps communicating for a longer period.

You have already tried removing the cover for a possible heat problem, but are you sure the power supply has enough current to operate the module (assuming you are using a separate power supply for it)?

Ad1) I will try it and I will inform you...
Ad2) I do not use separate power suply for it. I use shared 150W power suply for all ADNET members (2x Ocelot, 2x RLY8, 6x bobcat), see http://www.meanwell.com/search/hrpg-150/default.htm, it has enough current.

RLY8-XA connected directly to the Ocelot "by the short wire" operates correctly. The communication between them via ADNET bus is stable. I will try to extend ADNET with next modules "step by step".
Are there any guidelines for creating of the ideal ADNET wiring? For example a maximum lenght of the wiring, the number of ADNET members, a minimal distance between ADNET members, a maximum resistance of the wiring, the thickness of the ADNET wires, etc.. Is possible to use "star" wire topology?
I thing that the trouble is in this topic...

As for guidelines, this type of differential network is best configured as a single chain, up to several hundred feet is ok, and possibly with termination (a 150 ohm resistor across the A and B wires) at each end. Search for "termination" on this forum for several discussions about this.

Thank you very much for your advice, I will try to terminate my ADNET bus...
