Have an "L" shaped basement I'm finishing off and plan on having the lights stay on as long as there is movement anywhere in the rec room. No problem with hooking up to secu16 but where would I place the resistor.

It doesn't matter. You can place it across the input right at the SECU16, or across the terminals at the PIR detector. Whatever is more convenient to wire.
