Hi there!

I need to connect 3 IR emitters about 40 feet from a SECU16IR.
Do I need to run all three pairs of cables that connect to the mini-plugs, or can I run 4 cables (3 cables + a shared common wire)?

I have no idea about IR, hence the question!

Technically, there is no shared common at the mini jacks. The rings each go to a driver chip or transistor that pulls the output low, and the tips each go to a pullup resistor that is connected to +12v. You should therefore run three pairs, one for each jack.
