We have been receiving many requests to create a device driver for Elve to support the Ocelot device. Elve is currently in beta and will be commercially available in the Summer of 2010. We are doing some preliminary research on supporting the Ocelot and have a few questions:

1. Is there a more recent protocol document then the one labeled 3, March 2000?

2. Are promotional or demo devices available for testing our device driver?

3. Is there a technical contact if we have any questions?

For information on Elve please visit our website at:

You will find some additional information about the serial protocol here:

I'd like to use a pc for the controller instead of the Ocelot. Is it possible to get the specs on the ADnet Protocol?

I'm an SysAdmin/Programmer for an ATT lab here in Atlanta. I'd like to set up a single PC with multiple RS485 cards that can monitor multiple ADNet networks throughout our building. This would be a custom in-house design, not to be used externally.

I currently have two networks in production, each equipped with a PC/Ocelot for monitoring. The objective is to use one PC and multiple RS485 cards to monitor the entire building.

If an non-disclosure agreement is required, I'm fine with that. I do that all the time.

Thank you for your inquiry. Our RS485 ADNET protocol is proprietary and is not released. You can connect multiple Ocelots to a single ADNET setup and monitor the bus in that way. The Master Ocelot and read the status of the modules and variables can be set on the slave Ocelots to indicate the status of the various modules. The RS232 protocol is published on our web site.
