I'm trying to connect to my Ocelot using a Quatech QSE-100 serial to ethernet device server. I'm able to connect to my Ocelot when it is directly connected to the PC. I have connected to my Elk M1G panel using the Quatech serial device server and it works fine. I've tried connecting to the Ocelot using the same port on the QSE-100, it's got 4 serial ports, and the same cable I've used for the Elk M1G. No luck, CMAX either closes almost immediately after hitting connect or pops up about 15 exception windows. I've set the QSE-100 port to 9600-8-n-1 and it seems to auto-detect the settings from CMAX. If I try connecting using Hyperterm and set it to 19200 baud then close hyperterm and try from CMAX the QSE-100 web interface on the status screen shows it is 9600-8-n-1. I couldn't get any response from the Ocelot via hyperterm when connecting trying to connect through the QSE-100. I rebooted the Ocelot with hyperterm connected through the QSE-100 and got a line of strange characters but no response from sending a CR. The Active light on the Ocelot blinks 4 times about every 5 seconds. The comms light is flickering away. I also have a SECU16 connected to the Ocelot. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jabran

Ping, any ideas?
Guy, can you tell me what this Application Error is referring to? When I configure CMAX to a bogus port I don't get this error just a "failed comms" type message.

The serial connection to the Ocelot is not an interactive one where you can "talk" to it with a program like Hyperterminal. It is a binary protocol, expecting specific data, checksums, delays, etc. The error message you posted appears to be from C-Max crashing for some reason. It could be due to the serial connection or it could be something else. The only realistic suggestion I can make at this point is to try another serial device, or another PC. Some USB serial devices will work and some others won't. Search for "USB" on this forum and you will find several discussions about this.
