We have recently updated our Ocelots to 3.18 Executive, however we are having some issues. In order to troubleshoot the issue, we want to load 3.01 Executive back onto the Ocelot.

Where can I find 3.01 Executive?

Is there an archive somewhere?

It seems to be a timing problem...

3.18 appears to be quite a bit slower than 3.01, so when I issue continuous IR commands through it at a rate of ~1/second, it doesn't appear to quite keep up and the serial buffer fills. When I stop the scripting software running on the PC, the buffer continues to issue commands for some time. Disconnecting the serial port or rebooting the PC appears to clear the commands, which probably confirms that is where the buffer is.

I suspect the flow control from the Ocelot is gating the commands, leading to this back up.

I noticed in the forum another user stating that the Ocelot appears to respond slower with 3.15 and 3.18 Executive (in his case, judging by the response of a touch screen), which sounded to me like the same issue.

In any case, I thought if I could quickly try returning to 3.01, I would know right away if 3.18 has altered the timing.

Not making any gurantees, but I found this 3.08 that you could try:

http://www.appdigusers.com/ADI_2/executive/FLASH512_3dot08.BIN

Rename the file FLASH512.BIN and try reloading the executive.

Let me know if that seems to behave differently.

I will give it a try...

I notice that in the same directory (just playing with the link), there is another file called just "FLASH512.BIN" - do you have any idea what version that one is?
I have downloaded it just in case it is of some use, but am reluctant to try it.
[UPDATE - I tried loading it and it reports v.9.99!]

The other thing that appears to be happening with 3.18 is that after a few days of continuous commands (i.e. every second we have it issue an IR command), the module becomes unresponsive - when C-MAX "talks" to it, the until does not reply with its model name... Reloading the executive doesn't appear to do anything (same issue afterwards).

I will try to work with it some more tomorrow (on a tight work schedule which doesn't permit much time to do this!)

9.99 was one of the beta versions for C-Max 2.00, don't use it. I'm interested in knowing what you find out with 3.08. It was one of the first widely used versions.

It's been a while since I have been evaluating other IR products, however I have finally tested 3.08 Executive and can confirm that it exhibits the same "lock-up" issue as 3.18, however at least it does appear to keep up with commands better than 3.18.

So I guess I am still looking for 3.01 Executive if anyone knows where I can find it.

Another option - I have one Ocelot that still has 3.01 Executive - is there any way to save that to a file and then use it to revert the others?

No, you cannot extract the executive from an Ocelot. But if you had a flash programmer, you could duplicate the flash chip...

I'll have to look around at an older PC that I have, just in case I could find an older version.

Are there no ADICON guys reading the forum?

I would have thought that this would be an easy request for them to fill... Ideally I would like to see an archive of previous Executive revisions - for those of us who need to revert to other versions.

I am having two issues with 3.18:

1) Ocelot locks up after a few days of heavy use (say one command per second). Power cycle does not resolve the issue - only reloading the Executive seems to work.
2) The Ocelot is slow under 3.18 - If I stop the IR control software, the Ocelot will continue to spew out IR commands for minutes (seemed to be buffered at the serial port).

What exactly do you mean by heavy use, one command per second? Sending one IR command per second over a number of seconds? Sounds like some kind of input or output queue is getting overrun. Also, do you have expansion modules (and which ones)?

1) Heavy use: issuing about 1 command per second (on average) over a period of several days.

We have a single SECU16-IR module attached.

Check your e-mails. The attached file is named flash512-301.zip

Save it in your c:\program files\adi\adicon2500 folder. Then load it into your Ocelot.
