Hy Guy, It seems that when I plug in to my com 2 but without opening Cmax and whether the computer is running or not and tried other computers, I get a slow down with regard to the usual flashes on all modules,ie: bobs, secu, speakez etc. When I unplug my com port everything works fine. I started trouble shooting recently when I noticed a delay in speakez when triggered by my inputs.I checked the connections and the cable to no avail, what do you think?

thanks for your time,

westy

That would be unusual, but could indicate some kind of grounding problem witht he power supply vs grounding through the PC. What kind of power supply are you using with the modules? Is it just a floating a/c (2 prong) power supply or something else?

Hi Guy, Sorry for the late response, It is the Original ac adapter that came with the Leopard ( 2 prong) I recently pinned out the cable for com and changed to cat6 with a bit better result but still small interupts. Again if I unplug from the pc, all is good. I did notice the speakez heating up quite a bit, so I put an additional heat sink, mind you I have taken speakez out of the equation to further test. my pin outs for cable were solid. I did go so far as to change the com chips in the modules and the leopard.

thx

Devices connected to SECU16 inputs could also be a source of ground loops or other strange interference. As long as the module polling is still quite steady there shouldn't be any major issues, but it might still be worth investigating.

Hi Guy, I have contacts connected to the secu16 thats all for now. I thought through reading some posts that this can be caused by my new furnace, however I shut the main to furnace off and the same thing happens. With regard to the ground loops I will continue to trouble shoot this. I seem to remember that the leopard can run on dc12v as well, is this true? and if so would it be a cleaner supply? The leopard has been up for about 2 years now so this is out of the ordinary. I thank you for you quick responses and help. I will keep you posted.

Yes, the Leopard and all adicon modules can also be run on a dc power supply. There is no specific advantage in doing so, other then possibly of being able to have a true common ground with other devices.

Hi Guy, sorry for the delay again, I have been trouble shooting in between work and other day to day happenings, I did a few cable reroutes and ran a new cat6 combined with a voltage cleaner/ surge protector, having said all of that, I am not sure which one really solved my problem, never the less everything is running perfectly again.

I thank you for your fantastic support and help.
long live the leopard !

hope to chat again soon,

westy
