Since you already have a universal remote, just set it up for a TV or other device for a brand that you don't have (and don't plan on ever getting) and try it in front of your other devices just to make sure that it indeed has no effect. Stick with regular brand name devices like Panasonic, Sony, etc to make sure that commonly used IR frequencies are used. If that tests ok, then use that code set to learn for controlling your X10 devices.
