Hi All
I did a stupid thing the other day and put a serial port loop into my program. I have tried to gain access but can't. I have lost count of how many times I have powered it down an tried to reload the executive or the program in the first 4 seconds. It just wont let me in. I was wondering if there was another way out of my predicament. Here's hoping someone has an answer.

Thanks in advance

Brian

Trying the executive reload immediately after powering it up is how many people have solved this problem. The only other way I can think of would be by replacing the flash chip...or reflashing it from an image file if you have access to a flash programmer.

Try doing the following:

On the Leopard is a small white button. Remove power from the Leopard. Press and hold that button. While holding it, apply power to the Leopard. After about 5 seconds, release the button. This should whipe out your program allowing you to reload it.

Thanks Guy and Kevin for the prompt reply. I have tried the white button but it seems to do nothing. I seem to remember reading about the button earlier. I thought it was said that this was to be implemented in an update. It could have been an old entry in the forum maybe.

Guy I have bee trying the executive reload but I cant seem to get in there quick enough. I power it down and hover my mouse over the attach to controller button. Then power it up and click the mouse, and move it to the controller utility button and select reload controller executive but by then the Leo seems to have already started, so I get the dreaded lost connection report.
Is there perhaps a better way to do it?

Thanks

Brian

Seems I also remember testing that button thing and concluding that it didn't work.

Looks like you might need to get another flash chip from ADI.

Thanks Guy maybe that is the only way out.

That button definitely does not work.

I live in Scotland and Kevin has helped me out with a chip before.
Can the same system work this time. I think Guy is right. I need another flash chip.I have tried and tried to get the executive to reload. Is this flash chip a plug in device so that I can fit it myself?

Regards

Brian

Yes, the flash chip is in a socket.

Hi Guy
Just back from holiday.
How do I get one of these chips and what do I have to do when I have it. Is it just a case of replacing it, reload the executive and then my program.

Regards

Brian

For that, you need to send an email to adiinfo@appdig.com and mention this thread.

Once you get it you just replace it and do the steps you just mentioned (reload the executive and then your program).

I had the same problem but I solved it differently. The problem is that there's not enough time for Cmax to load the exec, it wants to look for modules first and then load the looped program second. Because of this you miss your window of opportunity to reload the Controller Exec. I had a bobcat and a SECU16-IR attached to the system when I tried to power cycle and load the exec. Because the controller was looking for modules (bobcat and SECU16-IR), it took time away from Cmax trying to load the exec.

Solution: 1. I unplugged all peripheral devices
2. unplugged the power/data connector to the Ocelot
3. Clicked on "Attach to controller"
4. Immediately!!! clicked on "Reload Controller Exec", and a millisecond later plugged in the power/data connector.

I can not emphasize reconnecting the power/data plug a millisecond after the "Reload Controller Exec" enough!!!!

Thanks Kevin and Guy

Great service. The chip is installed and the system is working as good as new.
