I'm not sure if anyone else is using CPU-XA Program Notes (CPN) a neat little program written by Jeff Hinrichs for keeping track of assigned X10 codes, Timers, Variables etc. etc. ??

A search on CPN in this forum came up blank.

I've relied on it for many years now but my recent switch to 64 bit VISTA may be its end of life? When I try to run it on my new system it comes up with "This appication has failed to start because MSVBVM50.DLL was not found" I tried copying that file to the CPN folder but it then just comes up with a different missing file.

Anyone else use this on VISTA?

Hi John!

CPN sure goes back a while! Before C-Max 2.00 and the system map. So what other file is it looking for?

Hi Guy!

Yah, CPN has been around for a long time but I find it by far the easiest way to keep track of things!

It now says comdlg32.ocx is not currently registered, missing, or invalid. Copying that file to the CPN folder does nothing. The file is apparently part of Active X.

I just tried clicking on "Run as an Administrator" and that seems to work (other than having to click on the Vista "allow" prompt!

So, problem solved and recorded for posterity!

Here's what to do:

1) Copy files msvbvm50.dll and comdlg32.ocx from an XP system into the CPN directory.
2) Right click the CPN icon, select Properties, Click on "Run as Administrator"
3) Enjoy!

Thanks!

Interesting. I thought that it might also have been a problem with registering the control (regsvr32 ).

But if it works as admin, then fine!

Yah, I thought of registering it but don't know enough about ActiveX to know what sort of other problems registering XP version files on VISTA 64 might create!
