This might sound strange, but I have a number of discrete ir commands (TV On, TV Off for example) saved in my Ocelot and now I want to teach a URC MX350 those ir commands.

I know the commands saved in the Ocelot work; I connect an ir blinker in the IR out port and attach to the TV; I connect to the Ocelot controller and transmit the command; ir blinks and the TV turns On / Off (for example).

So, I figure I should be able to simply attach the ir blinker to the URC remote control; put it in learn mode; transmit the ir command from the Ocelot and be done.....wrong....the URC remote control does not detect an IR signal; I have tried with several other learning remote controls, but none work....

So, is there something unique to the IR signal coming out of the Ocelot that causes the A/V device to understand the signal, but that same signal cannot be taught to a learning remote control ??

Thxs in advance for any suggestions!

First off, learning a learned code is like a photocopy of a photocopy...never a good idea. But I would think that it would at least see the signal. The blinkers put out a rather weak signal (that's why they need to be stuck to the IR receiver of the controlled device) so maybe the IR receiver on the remote needs a stronger signal (maybe to filter out noise?) or maybe you don't have the blinker placed at the exact right spot.

Yes, agreed learning a learned code is not the greatest idea, but I don't have the original remote - that is why I am trying the ocelot route, since the codes are saved in it....

Thanks for the perspective on the blinker signal - kind of makes sense when you think about it...you normally train a learning remote by placing the two remotes within an inch of each other, thereby 'blasting' the original ir signal toward the learning remote...
