Jeez, it's been a couple years since I set up my ASCII messages. Now I've moved my projects over to a new computer and lost all my ASCII messages. Nothing showing in CMAX. I can't remember where they were stored? System map? Program file? Chris

They are stored in a seperate file ending with the file extension ".asc". They are also saved seperately, within the ASCII Strings utility, and are not saved along when saving your project.

Guy,

So when I built my new computer, I transfered the .tch files, the .pgm files and the .prj file but not this .asc file, eh? I'm sure the .asc file is on the old machine. How do I restore it so I can download the strings to my new Ocelot? Thanks, Chris

So do you still have the old machine? If so, then just search for files ending in .asc

If the old computer is gone, then you'll need to redo the strings from scratch. There is no function to read them out of the controller, but you could always write a temporary C-Max program that waits about 1 minute, and then transmits each ASCII string in order. You could stop C-Max and then "listen" to the Ocelot's serial port with a program like Hyperterminal to see what the strings are.

Guy,

Just to close the loop on this one, I found the ascii file on the old computer - thanks.

Chris
