Can anyone help me.
My Leo has a habit of not lighting up now and then. ie if I touch the screen nothing happens. It seems to be running in the background but the lights at the side instead of the normal flashing, ie active light 4 pulses at the same time as the coms light flashing continuously and the X-10/IR light flashing now and then,it changes to Active light is the same as before. The Comms light stops when the Active light flashes and the X-10/IR light stops flashing. The only way to make it go again is to power it down and back up again. Anyone seen this type of behaver before?

You might want to verify that the ribbon cable going from the touchscreen to the main board is will seated. Power off the unit and then try unplugging/replugging that cable carefully.

When you press the screen, does the Leopard beep?

Thanks for the quick response both of you. I am away for a few days so I will check the cable when I return and report back. I cant remember if it beeps when touched, but I have a boiler control screen on it and I can change the set temperature via HAL. If I look very hard I can see that change even though there is no back light. I will have to wait for it to go wrong again to test for the beep.

So you seem to be saying that it acutally keeps working (displaying information) even if the backlight doesn't come on. But touching a screen button itself doesn't work? And it may or may not beep (you will be checking this)? It does sound like the touch detection part of the screen is having the problem. Do check it out for the beep the next time it does this as Kevin suggested, and check that ribbon cable.

Just a wee update. I thought I would tempt fate and say all is now well. I did as you said and took the Leo out of the wall and stripped it down. I then unplugged any cable or chip that would unplug and re seated them again. Since then it has performed perfectly. Many thanks again Guy.

Hi All

My Leo is at it again.
This time when it goes wrong I can see the boiler display change even though the display will not light. If I touch the screen it beeps, but nothing happens. When the boiler set temperature is changed Via HAL2000, the numbers change and the boiler comes on or goes off as normal via my Ocelot, (the Leo is a slave). This should produce a beep to let me know the temperature has changed, but I get no beep. If I power it down and back up again all returns to normal. Can any one here shed me some light.

Regards

Brian

Looks like it could be a bad or intermittent connection again, principally the two cable going to the screen. Have you tried unplugging and reconnecting them?

Hi Guy

Yes I have had the whole thing apart. Unplugged all the chips and cables that will unplug, and plugged them back in again. It has now done it 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The other 2 times I just disconnected the power and then powered it up again and it worked ok.

So you're saying that the screen display updates, and beeps when you touch it, but the backlight doesn't come on and buttons don't respond? I would think that beeping and button response would be an all or nothing event. You might want to send an email to adiinfo@appdig.com and ask what they think.

Still no reply from ADI to my email.
It went off again this morning. Instead of powering it off and back on I tried reprogramming it. It came back on with a lit screen but after the 30 seconds it went off as usual. When I touched the screen it didn't come on. Although the screen beeps when I touch it, it doesn't seem to be passing the touch to the rest of the Leos in-nerds.

I think there may be a problem with pic chip that drives screen. E-Mail me your address and phone number and I'll get it to you.
