error:icon memory overrun

Hi

I have ongoing problems loading/adding new icons to Leopard II controller
every time I want add one I'm getting error:icon memory overrun
I did try loading new project, reloading system map, etc- no go
originally I had all my icons, about 80 in 24 bit Bitmap color by mistake
but I have changed all that to Monochrome Bitmap, looks like since than I have all my problems

I have to add more icons to complete my project could you guys help me with this issue please
I'm Firmware V8.23/158 Application V3.08

looks like Westy has similar problems

"Hi Peeps can anyone shed some light on why the leopard 11, when loading new icons fails to load them. I'm using about 20 128x40 and understand I should be able to load alot more. Am I doing something wrong, is there any solution for this, or is this the limitations of the leopard?

I know from previous responses I have put in a blank program to start fresh and re-load which gives me the previous program but still unable to load additional icons.

If you can shed some light it would be appreciated."

Try this first: Open a new, blank project. Define your controller as a Leopard in the system map, and create a single line program with just "END of Program", and define a single button on the screen. Now do "Project" -> "Download Project" and make sure that the "Icons" checkbox is checked. This should load icon memory with a bunch of default blank icons. If that works ok, then reload your actual project and try it again.

Hi Guy, I did load the new project and the dummy icon, as well as the system map, as per our conversation.
just as you said. Still I am getting the same result. I'm wondering if there is a memory chip that needs to be replace or upgraded.
still keep in mind we have approx. 80 icons and I want to add 2 more at this point.

Hello Guy, I know 1021 is having the same problem, I too did as you recommend and still same thing. I know you mentioned the cmax software version, I am running 308, I thought though that I upgraded. Is there something I'm missing there. I downloaded the current cmax which is the 318, but comes up as ver 308.

Help. thx Guy for anymore light you may shed.

Are you also getting the icon load failure when you're loading the default, blank project? If that works ok but your own project doesn't, what exactly are you seeing in the error messages in C-Max? Could you list a few of the final messages here, especially with the memory offsets that get listed.

If you downloaded the latest C-Max and reloaded the executive, then you should see the 3.18 version under "Application" after the reload.

In C-Max, make sure that you are running 2.00e5. If not then the newest version of C-Max is not installed.

If it does report that, then click comms, attach to controller. Click controller utilities, reload controller executive. This will load the version 3.18 into your Ocelot.

No, I get the load failure only when I attempt to load my project. after loading my project, I see "error icon memory overrun as well as the actual icons being loaded. in terms of the error window, everything shows that it is being loaded and looks normal, then when leo reboots I get broken icons.

I just tried 2-3 times again, this time I didn't get the over run error, but still broken icons as well as no new additional icons, plus to add insult to injury, I lost a couple of modules. this is ok but odd. I can readdress them later. I am actually with Westy at my house and trying to resolve this together.

But when it is loading the icons, C-Max displays the memory offset where each one is loaded in the left pane. What are the values you see for the final few icons before the error happens?

This is getting really interesting
Every time I’ve tried to readdressed the modules
the CMax utility starts skipping the numbers on its own
without letting me address it(press the button) for the next module

I’ve tried temp 1 module to address as 1 then next temp module 2 as 2
but before pressing the second temp module the utility was already showing
11 or 32 when I’ve tried it again etc

Hmmm

Try disconnecting some modules (ideally try connecting just one and try to address it). This might be a problem with signal reflections on the bus.

I've managed to get one module(temp sensor)to communicate with the controller so looks like comm chip on the controller and one module is working fine

Signal reflection on the buss-you mean the length of the wire?
I had this install for about 2 years - no problems but originally
I've addressed all the modules with short wire on the bench
This is the first time that I've tried to addressed all of them
in working setup the total length of the wire from the controller
to the last module is about max 40m

one thing to add about 4-5 weeks ago the comm LED on all modules
started to blink slowly as opposed to rapid blinking

thanks a lot

So it appears the your actual comms problem got started back then. I don't know how many modules you have altogether or how practical this is but it would be great if you could connect the modules just one at a time and address them alone on the bus (using "Skip this address" to get to the address you want to give it). This woul allow you to find out if one if them is simply refusing to communicate on the bus. This could indicate a bad comms chip.

I have to agree
Last night “Westy” brought his controller and we tried it – no improvements even worst the comm. LED on both controllers not working and at some point I lost my Speak Easy unit no power
it’s like a chain reaction: Icons, Buss, and now Speak Easy down
I guess I will wait till my roof collapses or a comet smashes into my track

I’ve prep short jumpers I will start addressing them one by one this weekend
I bought some comm. chips as well

I have 7 modules in that order
Leopard II
Temp in
Temp out
Humidity out
Light out
SECU 16
SECU 16
Speak Easy with no termination resistor at the end of the buss

thanks a lot again

Hi

OK I’ve managed to fix my comm. buss problem, all modules are communicating again
I had to replace SN 7517 for each of my SEC16

I’ve read the post about the icons as well this is very bed news looks like I’m at the threshold my offset value is about 44200 sadly I’ve decided to go beck to…buttons
Is there place (ftp site) where I can post my icons some of them look I think OK

Now the last think is my Speak Easy power problem
I’ve replaced 1000 uF cap that went bad but still no power
Is it possible to sent it to ADI for repairs any contact info will be greatly appreciated
The unit is 2.5 years old – no warranty
