OK, so this is what I would like to do, via web, able to control the Ocelot either via x10 signals or IR which can then receive by the Ocelot and execute functions.

I am using a Sling to view my cameras remotely, but its a Tuner Sling, if I had a Sling Pro with the IR control, I can then control the IR part ot the Sling into the Ocelot IR receiver. Without upgrading to the Sling Pro, are there any other options out there?

Thanks,
Neil

It looks like you would be a good case for a program like Homeseer, HAL, etc. I don't have any of these but they do offer web interfaces for doing what you want and support the Ocelot too.

I would prefer a stand alone product and not having the PC on, but seems my option is either the Sling or the HAL/Homeseer.

Thanks

You could probably do it with some other variations (aka competitors) to the Ocelot.

The first one that pops into mind is the Barionet from Barix. It is a device similar to the Ocelot, but without IR. You could slave the Ocelot from Barionet using the serial port. The Barionet has a built in little web server.

The other choice might be a Global Cache device. Again, very similar to the Ocelot, has an embedded web server and IR. I'm not sure if the embedded web server is for control or just for configuration.

Or wait for ADI to release new stuff... Hopefully ethernet and the ability to run a small web server is in the works!!!

If you can accept keeping a computer on all the time, then MisterHouse is an option if you dont want to pay for a commercial app. MisterHouse offers control of the ocelot through a program called xalib. It has a nice web interface. Trouble is your going to have to learn Perl to get it controlling your device in the manner that you want. Bear in mind that im having some trouble getting xalib to be consistent. But this is just on my machine. And I suspect that it could be some other aspect of system that is causing the occasional dropout.

Just my two pence worth, I'm a new user here and don't know a great deal so there may be some reason that this is not an option...
