Hi all,

I may be doing a common mistake as it is my first module installation and so far I had only been using X10 with my Leopard.
I intalled phisically the RLY-8, powered it on, pressed a button on the screen ( IF Touch Objet # 19, Button Leopard is pressed , THEN Module #1 RELAY-08 Relay#0 Turns On ).
It worked ! no configuration at all. The module was discovered and it was plug and play. But after a few minutes the button did not work any more.
Then I followed the manual instructions and auto address the istallation. (5.4.1 Adding a new module to an existing installation)
The module appeared again in the controller access grid again. I pressed the button and it worked.
A few minutes later did not work any more and also disappeared from the grid again.
I tried to auto-address the module again but did not work.

What am I doing wrong ? any better way to add a Relay-8 Module ?

Thank You.

Did you make sure that jumper JP-1 is removed to set the RLY8-XA in adicon mode?

See the datasheet:

Thank You, Guy.
It was working erratically untill I removed the Jumper 1 as you indicated and now seems to be working fine.

Now I have two RLY-8 in my system but I keep loosing them all the time and I have to Auto Address the modules, push the button, etc , etc.
After reading some post, I have found that there has been discussion about using different power supplies without a common ground.
Could this be the problem in my installation ?
I have a 12V DC for my Leopard and separates 12V Ac for each RLY-8

Does this happen when they switch a load on or off? Thre have been discussions about problems with inductive loads causing them to freeze up. Search for "MOV" and "snubber" on this forum and you will find several threads about this.

Hi there.
I've added a new RLY8 and can not get it addressed.
It is:
1. power supply is a transformer with sec 8.5 VAC @ 3Amps.
2. old RLY8 (worked fine and still does) right next to new one
3. after new one was installed, measured Voltage was 8.4 VAC
which is not less than 11 VDC, available for card DC power (I guess it's 5 VDC?), which should be enough.
4. I can readdress an old Mod with Auto Address Modules option,
but can do nothing about a new one.
5. Comms LED stays solid all the time (looks not that bright as the one on the old Mod).
6. JP1 and cover removed
Any ideas?

Check the comms lines between the the RLY8XA and the module it's connected to. It should be COM A to COM A and COM B to COM B. Make sure you are getting a good connection there.

If that still doesn't seem to work, try connecting just the new RLY8XA to your controller by itself. Then try addressing it that way, skipping over the other addresses you already have until you get to the one you want to assign to it. If that works, then try connecting it along with your other modules and see if they all appear now.
