On RemoteCentral.com, I discovered a number of codes to operate my Yamaha receiver. For instance, this code below is turns up the volume according to the web page at http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/codes/yamaha/rx-v870/page-2/:

0000 006C 0000 0002 0000 00AA 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 003F 0000 003F 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 0014 0000 0014 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 0014 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 0014 0000 0014 0000 003F 0000 003F 0000 003F 0000 05EF 0000 0055 0000 0E37

My question is, armed with this code, how do I get this code into my Ocelot so that my Ocelot can actually issue this command to my amp? I know how to issue codes from the Ocelot to my amp when I learn them from the remote. But since I have lost my remote to this amp, how do I get the hex code above into my Ocelot?

Thanks,
Jeremy

I believe the ADI pronto IR utlity can do this - but I'm not sure how.

A quick tutorial would be helpful for me too.

The IR-Max utility allows you to paste a Pronto format code at the bottom and then click on "Convert" in order to import its equivalent LIR format in the Data Area. But the code you posted needs a bit of work since it has a "0000" field between each duration field, and the number of carrier transitions (4th byte) is set to 2 even though there are 34 values following it. Making the needed corrections, I get this in Pronto format:

0000 006C 0000 0022 00AA 0014 003F 0014 003F 003F 003F 003F 0014 003F 0014 003F 0014 0014 0014 0014 003F 0014 003F 0014 003F 003F 0014 0014 0014 003F 0014 003F 0014 0014 003F 003F 003F 05EF

Try importing this into you LIR file using IR-Max. You can download IR-Max and the manual from here:

Guy, would you mind explaining a little bit more about how you knew the IR code needed to be changed and what the bytes represent (or share a pointer that explains IR codes) so I can diagnose similar problems on my own?

thanks

Well if you read up on Pronto code format (in the IR-Max manual) you will see that the format of the original code you posted was not the same. The field specifying the number of carrier transitions didn't match the number of hex values that followed. Then there were groups of 0000 between each hex value. Maybe this follows some kind of expanded format, but IR-Max doesn't know how to deal with that.
